Raffle tickets are being sold to help benefit the UW Alumni Association Scholarship fund. This year marks the 22nd consecutive year that a fundraising Auction has been conducted to increase scholarship funds.

The UWAA manages a scholarship program that serves the university, graduating senior high school students and transfer students by encouraging them to obtain a college education at UW. The UWAA has awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarships since 1980 and the program will continue to expand to benefit approximately 50 students in 2013-2014 with a commitment of over $100,000 annually.

The University of Wyoming Foundation and the Alumni Association invite you to an evening with the Wyoming Jazz Ensemble at the acclaimed DazzleJazz Restaurant & Lounge in Denver on March 27, 2013. A pre-concert reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the jazz concert will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the same location.

~ Tickets are not needed for the reception, but you must have a ticket to get into the concert. ~

The Wyoming Jazz Ensemble, directed by Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies, J. Scott Turpen, is the University of Wyoming's premiere big band and regularly earns the highest ratings at national jazz festivals.

The ensemble has received much acclaim for performances with some of the biggest names in jazz.  Artists such as Allen Vizzutti, John Fedchock, Gregg Bissonette, Ellen Rowe, Eric Marienthal, Denis DiBlasio, Stefon Harris, Ingrid Jensen, and The New York Voice have recently performed with the group. 

In 2011 the group performed a Laramie concert with Down Beat winning jazz trombonist Steve Turre. That concert was followed by a performance with Turre in New York City at the famous jazz club Smoke. 

In 2012 the Wyoming Jazz Ensemble returned to the “Big Apple” to make its debut at Jazz at Lincoln Center in Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola when they performed with the Eric Reed Trio.

The UW Alumni Association manages a scholarship program that serves the university, graduating senior high school students and transfer students by encouraging them to obtain a college education at UW. The UWAA has awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarships since 1980 and the program will continue to expand to benefit approximately 50 students in 2012-13 with a commitment of over $100,000 annually.

Students are selected as graduating high school seniors on the basis of academic excellence, leadership, extra-curricular activities and an essay on why they wish to attend the University of Wyoming.  The scholarships are made available to students for their four years at UW.  Scholarships valued at $1,500 per year are awarded to Wyoming and out-of-state residents along with undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, we offer a one-year scholarship annually to an outstanding UW junior or senior, a two-year $1500 scholarship for a Wyoming community college transfer student, plus a one-year scholarship for a UW graduate student.
